JOB PURPOSE: The Head Start/Early Head Start Director ensures the most effective evidence-based early care and education service delivery, reflects the mission and vision of Central Kentucky Head Start/Early Head Start, and is in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Ensures adequate systems in place to maintain the highest quality of services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.Hire, coach, and evaluate the performance of management staff and administrative assistant.Ensures coordination among components, across levels and with the organization.Facilitate resolution of conflicts.Promote a consistent exchange of information across the Agency.Encourage and support professional development opportunities.Plan and facilitate regular leadership meetings.Participate in the design of internal structures, systems, and policies.Ensure consistency in service delivery across the program.Participate in the development of program interagency agreements and contracts.Establish and maintain relationships and collaborations with public school districts, systems of higher education, and other community agencies and partners.Attend meetings as appropriate.Design and deliver formal presentations to parents, staff, Board of Directors, Policy Council, and community groups to provide information about Head Start and ensure collaboration.Oversee Head Start programmatic budget and ensure compliance with Agency fiscal policies and procedures.Responsible for monitoring collection of Non-federal Share Match requirements per federal funding guidelines.Coordinate and submit all grant funding applications and supplemental funding applications for Central Kentucky Head Start.Participate in the development of collaborations and facility development for future expansion of families and/or services.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Significant experience with supervision of staff, fiscal management, and administration.Significant experience with Kentucky childcare licensing requirements and/or Head Start Performance Standards.Strong knowledge of best practices and systems in the field of early childhood education.Experience in design and delivery training.Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems as needed.Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Significant problem-solving skills.Ability to direct and assess the performance of staff.Ability to handle highly sensitive/stressful situations in a professional manner.Ability to interpret and implement complex policies and regulations.Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.Ability to exercise tact and discretion in all employee interactions.Ability to sit for long periods of time using a computer keyboard, telephone or other office equipment.Strong organization and time management skills.Must be able to lift 20lbs.Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.Physical/drug screen required.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Business Administration, or related field (required).Master's degree (preferred).Central Kentucky Community Action Council Inc. provides equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, color, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by state, federal, or local law.
