POSITION PURPOSE:
The Health and Safety Representative provides Safety and Industrial Hygiene support to the Moab UMTRA Project as assigned. Identifies, interprets, and assists management in the implementation of safety and industrial hygiene functional requirements. Work location will be at the Moab UMTRA project sites located in Moab and Crescent Junction UT.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participating in initial task/activity/process design and developmentPhysical walk-downs of tasks/jobsites/facilitiesCollection of exposure measurements using IH equipmentAssist in the development of Integrated Work Control PackagesPerform oversight of work activities with approved plansConduct and enter exposure assessment information into project databaseHazardous waste operations, construction, and office/administrative settingsEvaluate the effectiveness of engineering, administrative, and PPE controls used to mitigate exposure to multiple types of occupational hazardsProvides feedback to management to ensure implementation of requirements to meet regulatory and contractual requirementsPerforms assessments to evaluate compliance with requirementsDevelop and review documents, procedures, and reportsSeek solutions to problems, applying ingenuity, innovation, and creativityMust be able to work effectively under self-direction, including prioritizing tasks and assignmentsSupports Company goals for operational excellence and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS)
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as may be required from time to time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor or Associate Degree in Safety, Science, or related field Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate the ability to follow procedures, work packages, and/or protocols.Demonstrate the ability to use different levels of PPE.Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with field, project management, and client representatives.Ability to work independently without direct supervision.Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations, and company/customer ESH requirements for dissemination to project personnel.Organization and communication skills commensurate with position.Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines. Special Requirements: Must pass pre-employment background check.Must pass pre-employment drug testing.Must have a valid driver license.Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card.Have or require completion of RAD Worker Level II (16 hour); OSHA 40-Hr. HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR, along with other required and/or preferred OSHA training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience on DOE or UMTRA projects is desirable. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of this job are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Physical demands may include working at a computer, walking to and from specific job sites outdoors in inclement weather, lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work is conducted both indoors and outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is normally mild to moderate. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
