Position Summary NOLA Public Schools is seeking dedicated full-time High Dosage Tutors to serve as paraprofessionals supporting students in the following LEA schools: Bethune Elementary, Elan Academy, Ben Franklin Elementary, and The Leah Chase School. Tutors will provide research-based small-group or individual instruction to explicitly address students' unfinished learning from core instruction and prepare them for grade-level content in math and reading. Tutors will also be trained in the use of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) to ensure effective support in ELA and math high dosage tutoring.
Eligibility Applicants must be paraprofessionals with experience working in educational settings, available to work full-time during the school day from January 2025 through May 2025. Training in high-quality instructional materials will be provided to all hired tutors.
\n Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide tutoring services during school hours, Monday through Friday, with a focus on meeting the needs of eligible students;Use evidence-based small-group (maximum 4:1 ratio) and/or individual instructional models to address learning needs in ELA and math;Assist Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students who score Below and Well Below on statewide literacy screeners and numeracy diagnostics, as well as 4th through 5th-grade students who score Unsatisfactory, Approaching Basic, or Basic on LEAP in math and/or ELA;Incorporate educational technology into lessons to enhance student learning experiences;Collaborate with school staff to develop tutoring schedules and ensure alignment with student learning goals, including reading and math goals for students with IEPs/504 plans/EL plans;Monitor and document student performance and progress, maintaining accurate data-based records;Adjust instructional strategies based on ongoing assessments to meet the needs of each student;Participate in required training and professional development sessions to ensure alignment with high-quality instructional practices and HQIM. Educational Background and ExperienceApplicants must be paraprofessionals with experience in educational settings;Teaching certification is not required but is strongly preferred;Experience working with students in a tutoring or intervention setting is highly preferred;Knowledge of pedagogy and best practices in tutoring and intervention strategies is strongly recommended. Skills and AbilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills;Strong classroom management and organizational skills;Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment;Ability to adapt to various learning styles and instructional needs;Familiarity with or willingness to learn educational technology tools and resources.
\n$50 - $50 an hour

Performance Evaluation The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
