Job Description Your responsibilities Would you like to help to power the LHC's and future collider's particle detectors ? Are you an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) design engineer with hands-on knowledge of power electronic and power distribution?Then join us in the DCDC converter team in EP-ESE-ME and you will:Design DCDC converters in different High Voltage technologiesParticipate to all the phases of the full-custom R&D cycle of DCDC converter from 48V to 5V : from architecture choice, schematic and layout designParticipate in testing and full (electrical, reliability and radiation) characterisation of the newly designed ASIC convertersInvestigate for radiation tolerance commercial Silicon and GaN technology for future generation DCDC convertersMore information here: https://power-distribution.web.cern.ch/Your profileSkills and/or knowledgeDesign (schematic and layout) and simulation of analog and DCDC converter circuits;Good knowledge and some experience in using electronic lab instruments (PS, multimeters, oscilloscopes etc);Software experience in Matlab or Python;Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.Eligibility criteria:You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Applicants without University degree are not eligible.Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.Additional InformationJob closing date: 19.06.2024 at 12:00 AM (midnight) CET.Job reference: EP-ESE-ME-2024-89-GRAEContract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.Target start date: 01-November-2023This position requires:Work in Radiation Areas.Residence in the immediate vicinity of the Organization's installations.A valid driving licence.Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.What we offerA monthly stipend ranging between 5134 and 5647 Swiss Francs (net of tax).Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.30 days of paid leave per year.On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.About usAt CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe.
