POSITION OVERVIEW The Goodwin Hospice team is seeking candidates to work as a Hospice Compliance/Quality RN to support a team covering the Northern Virginia area within the beltway. Work with seasoned hospice professionals in caring for patients and families in their community and facility homes at the end of life. This position is responsible for managing activities that ensure compliance with all quality and regulatory requirements relating to hospice. This position provides leadership, operational and clinical support to the hospice teams, including leading and developing all staff and community partners in the compliance and quality process, and creating and maintaining an efficient structure that will meet compliance and quality regulations.
JOB DUTIES 1. Responsible for complying with regulations, laws, policies and procedures applicable to hospice and reimbursement issues. Educates all staff members about state and federal rules and regulations. Tracks and interprets new regulations and trains staff in their discipline-specific role in complying with these regulations.
2. Facilitates the organization's continuous state of CMS and CHAP survey readiness through activities such as but not limited to: on-site support, auditing to determine data analysis and trending, benchmark comparisons, observational visits with staff, mock surveys, participation in IDTs, providing organizational monitoring of all aspects of hospice care provided, implementing quality improvement initiatives, and participating in on-site surveys as needed.
3. Responsible for and ensures a comprehensive quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program for the Hospice program. Leads the QAPI team, initiates meetings and reports outcomes.
4. Promotes positive motivation, identifies problems and/or deficiencies, assist in developing action plans, educates staff, and implements solutions for the QAPI program and follows up in a timely manner.
5. Participates with the physician, referral sources, and professional staff in decisions regarding patient eligibility and suitability for the hospice program.
6. Responsible for setting up an audit program for medical records to meet quality and regulatory clinical indicators.
7. Responds to requests for ADR's and follows the ADR through the appeal process, if necessary.
8. Coordinates employee health and education activities for hospice staff and volunteers.
9. Works with the executive director, compliance officer, medical director and/or clinical director in structuring operational or clinical processes to enhance quality patient care and to improve the work environment for staff. JOB REQUIREMENTS A registered nurse who is currently licensed. Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Master's degree is highly preferred. Minimum of 5 years clinical experience with a minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Hospice or Home Health required. Experience leading a Quality or Compliance program required. Supervisory experience in healthcare required. Demonstrate effective leadership skills in QAPI management, strategic planning, and/or program and staff development. Demonstrate computer skills for documents, spreadsheets and database management and ability to learn new electronic medical record software and become a trainer.
