Skirball Hospice & Palliative Care is seeking a proven leader. Designated by the governing body, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospice and palliative program. These duties include full legal authority and responsibility for the management of the hospice, the provision of all hospice services, its fiscal operations, and continuous quality assessment and performance improvement.
Responsibilities: Maintain full responsibility over day-to-day functions of the financial areas of cost controls, adhere to financial and accounting policies and procedures, and manage expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner.Meet or exceed revenue and earnings budgets on a quarterly and annual basis.Ensure dependable record systems and statistical reporting systems and program documentation.Direct installation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure achievement of the objectives of the Hospice and Palliative programs.Prepare a budget for the approval of the Governing Body.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, Medicare regulations, and established personnel policies and procedures.Provide leadership in the development and/or implementation of LAJHealth objectives, standards of care, and policies and procedures affecting the Hospice.Participate in staff meetings, department meetings, team meetings, briefings, in-services, committees, and other related activities as needed.Manage sales staff and DPCS.Prepare reports on activities as required.Direct the daily business operations of the office and review financial statements, operating results, performance evaluations, etc.Negotiate and maintain contracts and agreements for the provision of services and ensure enforcement of the agreements.Act as a liaison to the governing body and attend meetings as requested.Receive direction from the Governing Body and implement their recommendations.Monitor and report to the Governing Body results of evaluations, audits, studies, and implemented recommendations.Participate in evening/weekend call as required, conducting on-call services in a competent and responsible manner.Provide regular communication with the Hospice staff, including clinical staff, regarding pertinent organizational and clinical issues.Meet or exceed delivery of HHS standards consistently.Facilitate effective interpersonal communication between staff members and promote effective administrative function throughout the organization.Establish and maintain ongoing public relations efforts to increase community understanding of Hospice programs and improve relations with physicians and other care providers.Conduct all business activities in a professional and ethical manner.Provide professional development for staff and positively motivate the team to achieve service and performance excellence in all areas of the program.Create and maintain a professional atmosphere that is also a positive work environment.Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, health administration, or related field.Minimum of three (3) years' experience in hospice operations in a leadership role.Valid California driver's license with a good driving record.Intimate knowledge of Medicare Hospice benefit. Experience in palliative programs is preferred.Knowledge of compliance with accepted professional standards and practices and state and local administrative licensure requirements.Proven experience in program development and market growth.Understanding of Hospice care and the services provided to patient/family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary team.Ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.Cultural awareness and sensitivity.Ability to travel.Flexibility in work hours.Join us at Los Angeles Jewish Health to make a difference in the lives of seniors in our community.
