Housekeeper

Pay: Base Wage starting at $14; increased based on experience
Incentive Eligible Position: Yes
Essential Functions:
* Clean patient rooms nursing stations, surgical areas, administrative areas, lab, waiting areas and rest rooms.
* Launder some hospital and long term care linens.
Prepare the linens that are to be sent to the contracted laundry service.
* Wipe down equipment, clean furniture, polish floors and vacuum carpets.
* Make beds, empty trash and collect dirty laundry.
* Follow safety guidelines for chemical use in the facility.
* Follow guidelines for hazardous materials handling.
* Follow procedures and protocols for proper sanitization per regulation standards regarding body fluids and contagions to prevent contamination.
* Respond to emergencies in relation to cleaning hospital environment.
Skills Abilities:
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
* The ability to maintain an open mind to the acquisition of new skills and knowledge while on the job, especially the use of chemicals and understanding of basic safety procedures.
* Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
* Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Mathematical skills needed to mix cleaning agents appropriately in accordance with the prescription of the manufacturer
Working Conditions:
* Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
* Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.
Physical Demands:
* Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
* The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Requirements:
* Housekeeping experience.
* Chemical handling experience
