Job Description and Duties Join our Team of Professionals! The California Department of Education (CDE) Human Resources Division (HRD) provides services to internal and external business partners. Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I of the Classifications and Pay Office, and Examinations and Recruitment Office in the Human Resources Division, the Office Technician independently performs a wide variety of difficult clerical assignments. The incumbent will be a floater between the Classifications and Pay Office, and the Examinations and Recruitment Office. When needed, will also assist the Payroll & Benefits Office. The incumbent will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
• Responsible for handling daily activities of processing incoming mail, typing and composing correspondence, form letters, filing, answering, and responding to inquiries from the public and CDE employees
• Check lobby drop box every morning and date stamp incoming applications
• Assist Classifications and Pay analysts in creating job controls, and job postings using the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) Examination and Certification Online System (ECOS)
• Establish certification lists, request appropriate lists from other agencies; and create and mail employment contact letters
• Redact confidential information from candidate applications, scan, and upload hard copy employment application into ECOS
• Log incoming Personnel Request packages (PRs) and create PR folders in shared drive
• Monitor the Classifications and Pay Office, and Examinations and Recruitment Office main phone lines and email boxes
• Prepare, e-mail, and track probationary reports
• Assist Examination and Recruitment analysts in gathering information for appeal/audit purposes
• Prepare exam history files, exam announcements, and all types of correspondence for exam applicants/candidates
• Log exam appeals, mails and emails received for the ERO

Working Conditions IN OFFICE POSITION - TELEWORK NOT AVAILABLE
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and requires the incumbent to report to the office five days a week. This position is not eligible for telework.
Special Requirements The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website. Copy of a valid typing certificate, issued within the last 4 years, indicating the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Typing certification must be 5 minutes in length and proctored.
