Hse Specialist

The HSE Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with regulatory requirements both with blue sky work and storm work. Key Responsibilities: Develop and Implement HSE Policies: Assist the department director with creating and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures. Training and Awareness: Design and deliver training programs to promote safety awareness and compliance among employees and contractors. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, providing comprehensive reports and recommendations for improvement. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards, ensuring company practices align with legal requirements. Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze HSE performance metrics, preparing reports for management to drive continuous improvement. Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conducting drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, field staff, and administrative personnel to foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the HSE budget, ensuring efficient use of resources. Travel to Storm: Manage transmission and distribution line crews while on storm to different parts of the country as needed (storm pay will apply) Qualifications and Skills High degree of professionalism always—positively representing SLG's brand Strong communication and organizational skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Minimum 3 years of HSE experience in the Transmission and Distribution field ISNetworld and Avetta management experience preferred DOT management knowledge a plus, but not required
