Responsibilities
The Human Resources Manager will lead efforts in employee engagement, talent acquisition, onboarding, training, performance management, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and strategic HR planning.
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with employment laws, supporting employee well-being, fostering a culture of inclusion, and contributing to organizational growth through strategic initiatives in HR metrics, career development, and retention strategies.
Employee Engagement, Well-Being, and Retention
•Lead HR initiatives that support the organization's mission and values, with a particular focus on employee well-being and resilience.
•Serve as the administrative liaison for the Wellness Committee.
•Develop and implement strategies to reduce turnover and increase employee satisfaction.
•Conduct stay interviews and exit interviews to understand employee sentiment and improve retention.
•Create and manage employee engagement initiatives, such as team-building events and recognition programs.
Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, and Training
•Coordinate the hiring process to ensure future hires align with core values and organizational needs.
•Work with operations during interviews and orientation to ensure new employees integrate smoothly.
•Manage Employee Onboarding to ensure new employees are fully connected to VMSC.
•Develop a connected system for HR tracking, including payroll, benefits, onboarding, employee changes, and discipline tracking.
Performance Management, Employee Relations, and Compliance
•Support field management during the performance appraisal process, managing records, data, and dissemination.
•Track and coordinate paperwork management for disciplinary action and employee changes, ensuring alignment with record-keeping practices and CBA guidelines.
•Review and maintain VMSC's HR policies and procedures that reflect best practices and meet organizational needs.
•Mediate conflicts between employees or between employees and management, serving as a neutral party to facilitate fair outcomes.
•Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
•Participate in strategic HR planning that supports company growth and aligns with our organizational goals.
Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits
•Oversee employee benefits programs to ensure accuracy, integrity, and efficiency.
•Manage the payroll process, including payroll processing, timecard management, and year-end reporting.
•Ensure accurate timecards and payroll processing to reduce inaccuracies and unnecessary expenses.
•Become a notary to reduce external costs of notarization services.
HR Metrics, Reporting, and Career Development
•Use HR metrics to track turnover rates, training effectiveness, and employee engagement.
•Prepare HR reports for management to assess the effectiveness of HR strategies.
•Identify high-potential employees and develop career pathing plans.
•Assist in succession planning for key roles within the organization to ensure long-term stability.
•Develop a one-stop dashboard for onboarding status review to streamline employee onboarding.
Qualifications Experience
•3-5 years of hands-on experience in HR management, including hiring, performance management, and employee relations.
•Experience with payroll and benefits administration.
•Proven ability to independently manage HR processes and ensure compliance with regulations.
Required Certifications
•SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
•Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer Training within 12 months of hire (VMSC will provide).
•Notary Public certification (can be obtained after hire).
Education
•Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
