Terral RiverService, Inc is seeking an attorney to serve out of the Vicksburg, MS office as Terral's in-house counsel.
Essential Job Functions: Provide legal support to all departments in Terral.Manage Terral's insurance claims and relationships with brokers and underwriters.Structure, negotiate, and draft agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, lease agreements, freight contracts, and any other contractual needs that may arise.Provide strategic legal guidance to all departments and assist with the administration of contracts in accordance with Terral's policies and legal requirements.Research, review, and interpret the requirements of government agencies, laws, statutes, rules, regulations, and court decisions that are relevant to Terral's line of business.Recognize and evaluate risks and propose solutions to mitigate risk.Take lead on legal projects and related assignments.Perform other duties as required by the company.Skills, Expertise, and Education: Excellent academic credentials, strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills.Experience practicing in federal court and a background in maritime law is preferred, though not required.Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.Two to four years of experience in the practice of maritime law, with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.Admission to practice law in at least one state; Louisiana preferred.Studies and training in commercial, corporate, and maritime law.Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement plan, etc.
