The primary role of the Business Development Specialist is to proactively seek and pursue opportunities to increase sales and profits with customers by selling the company's products, services and solutions, while delivering exceptional customer service to all assigned accounts.
ResponsibilitiesActively promotes the company's products and services and assists customers in choosing the appropriate productsUtilizes sales principles and communicates the company's value propositions to customersPrepares and presents quotes/proposals, manages assigned sales pipeline, provides quote follow up and closes salesProvides exceptional personal customer service to all internal and external customersDirects, monitors, and consolidates CRM data to jointly develop account strategies and tactics with the teamListens to and manages resolution of customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to the team for supporting the customer's and the company's shared goalsIdentifies, promotes and converts sales opportunities into product sales with customersQualifies accounts to better understand our opportunity to increase share of walletWorks with Marketing to create targeted marketing opportunities based on new account segmentationMeets and maintains all minimum sales activity levels to include attainment of sales revenue/margin quotas & call activityResponsible for supporting and servicing inbound calls from assigned accountsHandles objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusionSupports the implementation of sales strategies to achieve all goals associated with assigned accounts by analyzing sales statistics and call data to achieve total spend opportunity in each accountPresents new products and services and enhances existing relationshipsNegotiates pricing in order to facilitate sales and/or increase profit marginsWorks with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needsTracks and records activity on accounts and helps to close deals to meet targetsWorks collaboratively with other team members as necessary to maximize sales opportunitiesDevelops a thorough knowledge of products the company offersParticipates in training opportunities and self-study to increase product and industry knowledge and to improve personal performancePreferred QualificationsTwo to four years of undergraduate work or associate's degreeMinimum of two years of related work experienceProficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use company softwareKnowledge of the industrial automation market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and the company's competitorsBenefitsMedical, vision, and dental insuranceHSAFSA (medical and dependent care)401(k) with employer match up to 4% with immediate vestingEmployer-paid short- and long-term disability coverageEmployer-paid basic life and AD&D insurance; supplemental life for employees and dependents available
