Job Responsibilities
The 2025 Engineering Development Program gives recent engineering graduates three experiences over a two-year period. The eight-month rotations include assignments in a wide range of combustion engine and aftertreatment functional areas including Advanced Research, Module Engineering, Performance and Emissions development, Reliability and Durability demonstration, Heat Transfer, Combustion, Fluids, and Fatigue Analysis, including Embedded System control software — all possible at our Midwest John Deere location. You'll have the opportunity to learn and apply Systems Engineering principles, a range of Virtual and Physical analysis and testing and Data Engineering and Analytics.
Required Skills
Working knowledge of internal combustion engines and aftertreatment
Experience with problem solving and working in a team environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Familiar with Microsoft Office products
Desired Skills
Known/demonstrated interest in engines and/or powertrain, engine sub-systems, Internal combustion engine classes
Systems thinking, systems integration, interested in complex systems and problem solving
Deep consideration of tradeoffs and system interactions making technical decisions
Modular engineering concepts and strategic architectural design principles
Experience in electro-mechanical systems including intake / EGR air systems, turbochargers, high pressure fuel systems, combustion and aftertreatment
Experience with Pro/E, GT-Suite, Embedded system controls
Interest in design, modeling, and analysis
Interest in simulation, physical testing, and development
Interest in software and controls
Activities tied to engines, combustion systems, vehicles, electronics and controls
Communication skills – to convey / summarize complex ideas and conclusions
Team mindset to work productively with others within and across functions
Education
Currently pursuing or recent college graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering degree with an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 through August 2025
Desired cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Minimum cumulative GPA required of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
