Requirements and PreferencesApplicants must have a Master's Degree in Justice Studies, Criminal Justice/Criminology, or a related field by the time of appointment. They must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational environment. Master's Degree or higher in Justice Studies or a related field from an accredited institution, and have at least 18 graduate hours in Justice Studies by the time of appointment.
Department Required SkillsMaster's Degree or higher in Justice Studies with at least 18 graduate hours of coursework, from an accredited institution.Candidate should possess one year or more of successful teaching experience.Ph.D. or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in Justice Studies, History, or a related field by the time of appointment.Special consideration will be given to those with experience teaching and/or publishing in two or more of the following fields: theories of justice and race; crime and public policy; African-American History; crime and the city.Experience teaching Criminal & Constitutional Law courses.Ph.D. in History with a specialization in Law.Ability to teach in a Historically Black Institution, sensitivity to the issues of social justice confronting minority groups in the United States and around the world; an experienced, self-disciplined, compassionate professional who can act as a role model for our students by inspiring them to excel as they confront social justice issues.Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, EducationPh.D. in Justice Studies and Geography and/or a related field from an accredited institution.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational community.Prior teaching experience in a diverse university environment.Primary Responsibilities and DutiesThe Department of History, Politics, and Social Justice at Winston-Salem State University is seeking to hire an adjunct to teach courses in Justice Studies and/or Political Science.
