I&T's team, includes metallurgists, mechanical engineers, chemists and machinists. I&T ENA's key competence areas are material properties, manufacturing processes and advanced material analysis using metallographic lab equipment, including light-optical and scanning-electron microscopy, with tensile testing capabilities. Additionally, I&T-ENA is product/process-oriented in forming, joining and alloy development, supporting the North America Technical Team as they strive to meet customer requirements.

We are looking for a qualified candidate for our lab in Troy, Michigan, reporting to the Lab Manager, Innovation & Technology - Extrusion North America.
Required Education/Experience Bachelor degree in Science or Mathematics
Preferred Skills/Qualifications Industrial and laboratory experience are a plus. Demonstrated hands-on aptitude for root-cause analysis relative to quality investigations. Special consideration will be made for candidates with previous experience in applied data analytics. Familiarity with metals (aluminum preferred) and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of precipitation heat treatment and extrusion processing is helpful. Material testing and characterization, light optical/scanning electron microscope familiarity. Theoretical and applied mathematical modelling Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Job Responsibilities Metallographic preparation and analysis towards root cause investigation of production issues or development of new processes within aluminum extrusion. Use of microscopy tools such as electron microscope (SEM) and other material analysis techniques to characterize aluminum extrusion samples Perform various mechanical testing methods towards mechanical performance evaluation of extruded aluminum Combine practical knowledge with available technical resources to stabilize and support production operations and increase productivity and improve quality. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Collaborate with the global I&T team to help develop solutions for our customer's challenges.
