Laser Cutting GNS is a recognized leader in the use of laser technologies, GNS utilizes multi-axis laser cutting technology.
Our multi-axis lasers are used for both prototyping and our large volume production for the automotive industry.
In addition to cutting flat metal, GNS provides trimming and hole piercing services for three-dimensional parts.
Our lasers have the versatility to cut a variety of metals with varying thickness and degrees of complexity.
Welding At GNS, we use spot welding in the welding of Ultra High Strength Steel and Press Hardening parts.
Our welding and assembly cells are highly automated.
We use automated robots to perform several of the most complex and precise operations inside the welding cells to achieve maximum cost reduction and ensure we produce the highest quality products for our customers.
Position Summary: Under minimal supervision, the Laser Technician is responsible for maintaining the laser and associated equipment and programs.
Laser Technician must be able to execute Level 1, 2 and 3 responsibilities and operate Laser cells to produce finished products when necessary.
Will set up a new job, find zero points and conduct dry run.
Determines new inputs and outputs on fixtures.
Responsible to train new and existing operators as well as participating in quality initiatives.
Principle Accountabilities:
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of complex duties associated with the application of one or more craft skills (i.e., mechanical, machining, electrical) to install, fabricate, trouble-shoot, repair, move and maintain a wide variety of production and related equipment.
Reads and interprets technical manuals, drawings, sketches, schematic diagrams.
Works from verbal instructions to determine and estimate material requirements and to plan and lay out details of the job.
Under moderate supervision, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of complex mechanical, pneumatic, equipment.
Installation of new machinery and equipment and move machinery and equipment to effect layout changes as required.
Work may include operations such as rigging, moving, erecting, aligning and making necessary hook ups placing equipment in proper operating condition.
Operates machine tools such as drill press, band saw, grinder to fabricate parts required for repairing equipment.
Performs operations such as cutting, drilling, shaping, and grinding.
Improvises methods to accomplish job.
Performs minor machine tool set-up as required.
Performs preventative maintenance procedures requiring inspection, disassembly, reassembly and critical adjustments.
Laser Technician Accountabilities:
Coordinate with production on what priority emphasis is to run during there respective shifts.
Conduct inspection through shift to ensure understanding of equipment status.
Converse with other leadman during shift changes on projects in action.
Asses the job: What has to be done?
What needs to be ordered?
Who is going to do it?
Coordinating and distributing all details.
Communicate with other shifts and coworkers to ensure progress of project or repair.
Organize that he and all coworkers work in according to OSHA safety standards, follow Lockout/ Tag out procedure if work under press is required.
Position Specifications Education:
High School Diploma.
Electrical trade school desired not necessary.
Experience: Level One, Two and Three certification.
6 months must pass to take the test to move From Level Three Laser Operator to Laser Technician Attend 2 additional/relevant Trumpf classes.
Demonstrate ability to run GNS Laser Cells.
Able to set up a new job, find zero point, dry run.
Determine Inputs/Outputs on new fixtures.
Able to create new tech tables.
Able to create a new CAD program from surface only.
Will also consider a combination of education and experience to achieve this level.

GNS has established processes, procedures, and protective equipment to reduce or eliminate exposures to these hazards and full compliance is a requirement of the job.
Requires working in non-air-conditioned variable temperature factory setting.
Employees are exposed to extreme heat and/or cold and other workplace hazards.
Noise level is the work environment is mostly loud.
