About the Position:
George Mason University's Office of University Branding seeks a part-time Lead Event Assistant responsible for assisting professional staff in all aspects of event management.
The University Events team supports Mason's mission by producing events that align with the strategic goals of the University and their students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
The Lead Event Assistant will report directly to the Associate Director of Events and Operations within University Events.
This individual will be an experienced team member charged with managing the reception desk and relevant duties including but not limited to: managing the generic email and main phone line, providing event information to inquiries from internal and external clientele, provide pricing and location information to non-GMU clients, provide guidance and information to internal GMU clients, assist event coordinators with assigned tasks, and maintain the event reception area and surrounding storage rooms.
This position will also assist the Associate Director of Events and Operations with the management of 1 student wage position.
On-site event management may also be expected as needed.
Required Qualifications: Ability to effectively communicate standards of facility use, program operations, campus policies, regulations, and procedures to customers and the University community; Exhibits strong attention to detail and organizational skills; Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience; Demonstrates excellence in customer service; Strong verbal, written, and communication skills; Ability to multitask and prioritize duties; Ability to work 20 hours per week including some evenings and weekends; and Must be in good standing (driver's license and insurable) to operate state or personal vehicle(s); and must have reliable personal transportation.
Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/.The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field; and Experience with 25Live is preferred.
