Essential Functions and Objectives:
Serves as the primary Early Education resource for a group of PreK-12 schools, providing expertise in collaborative activities, such as strategic planning and professional development, with the goal of ensuring that all classrooms meet licensing requirements and enhance language and literacy skills for all three and four year olds. Responsible for improving student achievement by providing individualized support, leading professional learning communities for teacher leaders and school leaders, designing and leading district professional learning for teachers and partnering with Directors of Schools. Infuses district vision for Culturally Responsive Education (CRE). Manages potential legal risks associated with escalated situations. Provides supervision under the direction of the Senior Manager and/or Director of Early Education.
- In partnership with the academics team, develops and facilitates cycles of professional learning in content area for the District and its school teams to ensure schools meet measurable student outcomes tied to district
priorities, such as rigorous standards-based instruction, culturally responsive teaching, instructional systems and data-driven instruction.
- Facilitates learning cycles across schools, including collaboratively setting learning goals, engaging in observations and coaching participants.
- Models exemplar culturally sustaining practices for teacher leaders, such as instructional planning at the unit and lesson level, data meetings and feedback conversations.
- Analyzes district local assessment data and classroom observations and uses it to inform school support.
- Works collaboratively to achieve actionable and observable results at the student level; contributes to a strong team culture grounded in district values and a commitment to excellence and service to schools.
- In collaboration with the multilingual education team, develops professional learning and coaching opportunities for teachers and leaders on best practices for supporting the achievement of multilingual learners.
- Supports with district curriculum adoption and implementation, create an interpretation guide for DPS for licensing rules.
- Prepares and reviews presentations, summaries, required reports, data, and other documents as needed for regional planning and District and community reporting purposes.
- Work with schools on Adverse Action and Probation to ensure compliance with State Licensing.
- Create Policies and Procedures as new licensing rules and regulations are created by the state.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in relevant subject area with at least two years of experience in coaching other teachers.
- Experience in supervision/people management.
- Valid teaching certificate at the appropriate level; Reading Teacher endorsement, Reading Specialist endorsement, Bilingual or ESL endorsement.
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products and/or Project Management Software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with others on challenging, time sensitive projects as a team player.
- Ability to assess appropriate priorities and organize workload on multiple assignments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Models excellent customer service.
- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization, both orally and in writing.
- Experience in leadership and/or supervisory roles.
- Bilingual/English as a Second Language teaching and learning.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education or Human Development.
- Master's Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education or Human Development.
