Job Description and Duties Under the Direction of the Assistant Deputy Director and under functional guidance of the Deputy Director for the Division of Legislative Affairs (Division), the Legislative Manager reviews, edits, and approves legislative, and policy analyses, performs various other analytical and research assignments on issues of interest to the Department, and plans, organizes, and directs projects and day-to-day work of the Division staff.

Special Requirements Conflict of Interest (COI) This position is subject to Title 16, section 3830 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Consumer Affairs' Conflict of Interest Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1, and within 30 days of leaving office.
Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Self-motivated individual with strong writing and analytical skills, an ability to translate complex issues into layperson's terms, and knowledge of the Department's licensing programs and consumer issues. In addition, the successful applicant should be team-oriented, demonstrate discretion with confidential information, and be able to work independently and meet firm deadlines. Knowledge of the legislative process is preferred.

3. Describe a time when you were involved in sensitive complex negotiations involving multiple stakeholders, your role in that process, and the outcome.
