Manage, lead, coach and evaluate the performance of the distribution engineering team for our Fortune 500 electric utility, providing strategic and tactical direction to enable the organization to successfully meet its goals and objectives. The successful manager will ensure business is conducted in a responsible and sustainable way, providing the best solutions for customers while sharing in the optimal performance, utilization, and management of distribution system assets.
Responsible for ensuring timely response in support of, root cause analysis, and follow up on, system events. In addition, this position is responsible for the development and cost justification of programs and projects for inclusion in the Life Cycle Plan, a long-term plan for the asset base.
Responsibilities: Manages the team by establishing and monitoring area goals, policies, plans, programs, performance objectives and budget. Analyzes and recommends resource levels to plan, develop and implement programs and policies. Manages financial resources by establishing operating and financial objectives that align with department goals. Oversee the management and development of area staff, including assessing the need and implementation of programs to ensure employees possess technical and behavioral skills required to support operating plans. Develop system infrastructure strategy, operating philosophy, and technical basis for renewal decisions that include economic life determination and associated risk profiles. Develop and manage the preventive maintenance optimization process. Evaluate, prioritize, select, and coordinate equipment and technology for the system. Accountable for the development, maintenance and management of construction and design standards, work procedures, and operating procedures for Electric Operations. Collaborate with other engineering managers to ensure consistency and teamwork. Responsible for the engineering design and drafting of life cycle plan projects for distribution system assets. Provide technical support to operating areas and dispatch relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and equipment operations and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, BSEE, (power option) or similar, required; MBA preferred 10+ years' experience in Power T&D engineering operations Demonstrated leadership experience in strategic planning and performance improvement efforts Extensive knowledge in distribution operations support, design or planning, required Excellent communicator with strong presentation and interpersonal / soft skills Candidate must reside or relocate to CT and be available to work emergency storm assignment as required Company Brief: Fortune 500 diversified energy services firm (electric utility / gas utility) that has been providing energy products and services throughout the northeast United States for 100 years, position is based in CT
