Machining Process Engineer

The Machining Process Engineer position is responsible for all maintenance, process control, applications, and document control within the machining operations. Must be able to understand and edit CNC programs, read blueprints, safely operate machines, and perform routine maintenance. Working closely with the Pattern Shop, Foundry, Cleaning Room, and Quality, this position is responsible for maximizing the machining capabilities of our castings and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Supports Machine Shop maintenance personnel in scheduling preventative maintenance work. Analyzes, designs, and implements part and process improvements. Oversees new product launches from concept through delivery. Orders parts, materials, and tools as needed. Quotes fixture work for new castings and any changes. Supports Machine Shop employees with scheduling, specifications, fixtures, programs, and other job-related issues. Develops, updates, and controls applicable machining documents and processes including blueprints, models, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Work Instructions. Recommends purchases of equipment and tooling. Performs CNC programming as needed. Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Machining, Engineering, or related field highly preferred. Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university or five years of current experience required. Current experience in Master Cam 5-axis milling and turning, Mazatrol programming, Mazak Matrix controls, Mazak Integrex, EIA/ISO programming, Fanuc, and 5-axis Machining is highly desirable. Experience with design and implementation of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is preferred. Ability and experience operating, debugging, and diagnosing Fanuc, Mazak, Giddings & Lewis 8000, and NUM controls required. Familiar with PLC Ladder Logic, SCADA, Sequencers, G-code, and reading, editing, and creating CNC programs in Mastercam.
