Starting Pay: $19.75/hour (plus shift differential)
2nd Shift: 12:00pm to 8:30pm (on call rotation)
A Brief Summary of This Position: Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Helper position in the Global Coatings Division.
Essential Functions: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment within the establishment such as hoists motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, conveyors, etc.Working knowledge of power tools and hand toolsDisassembles machines, repairs and replaces broken partsAssist with repairs and maintenance of all equipment and buildingsAdjust necessary equipment to ensure efficient and safe operationMaintain a clean and hazard free work environment to ensure department safetyWith guidance, interprets blueprints, works from sketches or verbal instructionsPerforms minor repairs on all types of forklifts and keeps in operating conditionContributes to the design and fabrication of production fixtures and racksBe an active participant in department safety; exhibit excellent safety practices and behaviors and follows the intended purposes of Valmont safety policies and procedures Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): High School Diploma or GEDMinimum one year experience general maintenanceLearn to read Blue prints, schematics, set up instructions, and general mathematics applicationsThe ability to work in damp high temperature conditionsThe ability to lift up to 50lbs on occasion with some repetitive liftingMust be able to work safely at elevated heightsMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results Highly Qualified Candidates Possess: Electrical and plumbing experienceThe ability to read blueprints, schematicsMinimum of two years' experience as a Maintenance helper or equivalentMust be able to be on Emergency Stand-by for unscheduled outages Benefits Valmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family's overall wellness needs are met. Working Conditions The employee is continually exposed to a working environment consisting of smoke and irritating particulate impurities, acid fumes from pickling tanks, and large quantities of windblown dust and ash produced as by-product to the process. In addition, the nature of the industry results in extreme heat in the summer (typically 10-15 degrees above outdoor temperature), and melting snow off of incoming material results in damp, cold working conditions in the winter. The winter conditions are doubly hard to manage. The average employee dresses to be comfortable while doing his / her assigned task, and in doing so, subjects him / herself to chilling and cold as large fluctuations in temperature are brought about by the moving of material in and out of the facility.
