Summary: The NWMS Malignant Hematologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other hematologic malignancies.
Working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, the malignant hematologist provides expert care to patients, utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, cellular therapy, and stem cell transplantation.
We are specifically seeking a candidate with expertise and or interest in the leadership of cellular therapy, bispecifics, and CAR-T cell therapy to help establish and build our cellular therapy program.
This role involves collaborating with oncologists, pathologists, nurses, and other specialists to develop personalized treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and adjust therapies as needed under a well-designed and established program.
The position requires strong clinical knowledge, experience in hematologic malignancies, and a commitment to advancing patient care through research and clinical trials.
Additionally, the malignant hematologist plays a critical role in educating patients and their families about disease management, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history-taking and physical exams.Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as imaging, labs, and biopsies to develop accurate diagnoses.Manage complex oncology and hematology cases, coordinating treatments such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.Educate patients and families about disease progression, treatment options, side effects, and clinical trial opportunities.Monitor treatment responses and adjust plans as needed to optimize patient outcomes.Provide symptom management and supportive care throughout the treatment journey.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including radiologists, pathologists, and palliative care specialists.Participate in tumor board discussions to evaluate challenging cases and refine treatment strategies.Contribute to clinical research, staying updated on advancements in oncology and hematology care.Interpret clinical and genomic data to guide personalized treatment plans.Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.Advocate for patient needs and preferences, ensuring compassionate and patient-centered care.Participate in developing and implementing evidence-based protocols and guidelines.Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.Facilitate communication between patients and other healthcare providers.Perform other duties as assigned by management.This is a full-time position located in Tacoma/Puyallup, WA area.
