Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Academic Employee and Labor Relations, and Associate Vice President of Faculty Affairs, the Conflict Resolution Manager is responsible for evaluating, investigating, and resolving academic employee conflicts, disputes, and other conduct of concern. Provides conflict resolution education training and awareness to academic employees and academic administrators. Mediates disputes, provides conflict coaching and tools to resolve workplace conflicts and disputes. Provides community building through restorative justice practices and principles for academic unit employees and academic administrators. Provides support to the Director of Academic Employee and Labor Relations, to address academic employee concerns/disputes before they escalate to other offices on campus.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for evaluating, investigating, and resolving academic employee conflicts, disputes and other conduct of concern refereed from the Office of Equity and Compliance, Ombuds, and other relevant offices.
Develop and conduct training on conflict resolution strategies and on workplace policies and procedures.
Support the Academic Labor and Employee Relation Department in addressing and resolving employee complaints/concerns.

The candidate possesses strong organizational and analytical skills, along with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. They excel in both verbal and written communication, demonstrating impartiality and the ability to project it effectively. With experience working in Higher Education, they have a solid understanding of Human Resource practices and principles. They are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusivity, and have knowledge of federal and state employment laws, as well as the Education Code, or are willing to be trained. Additionally, they have experience working in a unionized environment and have demonstrated the ability to prepare complex reports and create effective presentations. They have a proven track record of interacting successfully within culturally and ethnically diverse communities and thrive as a collaborative team member.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or University in a relevant discipline and a minimum of one year demonstrated experience in conflict resolution practices including, but not limited to Employee Relations Complaints, incidents, and/or grievance investigation and resolution, alternate dispute resolution programs, and restorative justice programs.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,589 - $7,917 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU MPP Compensation Summary Range:The MPP Comp Summary Range for this position is $6,589 - $9,884 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
