Job SummaryLeonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Manager, Mechanical Engineer for our Bridgeton, MO facility. This position will be responsible for supervising a team of mechanical engineers on activities and the completion of the activities on time and budget. The mechanical engineers are responsible for design, development, analysis, documentation and supporting the testing of products, systems or subsystems. The manager must also have the ability to complete a technical project independently and to mentor and/or coach other engineers.
Job ResponsibilitiesManage, supervise, and direct the work of mechanical engineering team responsible for driving technology through means of design, development, analysis, documentation and support of the testing of products, systems or subsystems.Manage budget, cost and schedule input for department and design assignments.Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements.Participate in preparation of proposals.Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements.Work closely with staff to conceptualize systems and mechanical designs.Assist and participate in technical engineering support activities, such as design reviews.Perform the design, development, modification, analysis, and/or documentation of various mechanical systems.Participate in resolution of technical issues within internal and external customers.Attend and participate in appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings.Mentor and/or coach other engineers either within or outside of direct staff.Supervise a group independently providing assistance to staff; communicating work priorities; verifying accuracy of work; employee development.Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.QualificationsBachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field or an related equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.Demonstrated leadership capabilities.Excellent analytical and communication skills, written and verbal.Experience with using 3D modeling software such as Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, etc.Understanding of Finite Element Analysis and CFD software such as ANSYS Mechanical, Fluent, and LS-DYNA.Experience with understanding and generating commercial and/or military mechanical drawings.Experience using Microsoft Office tools.U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
