As the Materials Planner based at our manufacturing facility in Kansas City, MO, you will enjoy overseeing the procurement of production parts and schedules, tracking supplier delivery performance, and maintaining inventory control for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand).


You will be focused on utilizing established processes such as demand forecasting, inventory and supplier management, material requirement planning, and continuous improvement to ensure the optimal flow of materials from the supplier's facility through delivery.


You will also be instrumental for ensuring that we have an adequate supply of materials flowing throughout our operations and for directing the activities of the production materials flow and inventory control functions. , sans-serif"> You will also:

Manage assigned parts and suppliers, including all problem resolutions Develop suppliers to ensure improved delivery performance and inventory control Coordinate engineering changes and build schedules with suppliers and production Maximize customer satisfaction while minimizing surpluses Examine MRP on a daily and weekly basis to produce supplier releases Launch, schedule, defer, expedite, and cancel POs to maintain inventory levels Monitor and update supplier lead times for system accuracy Facilitate suppliers understanding of delivery expectations and materials quantity via reports Proactively confirm delivery and schedules against purchase orders and adjust when necessary Collect shortage reports and tracking firm delivery schedules Obtain realistic delivery dates on shortages and follow up promptly Mitigate the risk of disrupting production by identifying parts shortages in advance Assist with packaging projects by implement returnable packaging programs Monitor and manage freight and logistics costs Process material requisitions for materials, repair of parts, equipment, and special engineering projects Identify the root causes behind missed deliveries Optimize inventory accuracy with VMI, Kanban cards, or Min/Max systems Partner with Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and the vendor(s) to identify and implement the appropriate inventory levels, order requirements and quantities, and delivery offsets

What you need to be successful Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or business, or equivalent materials planning experience in a manufacturing setting 4 or more (4+) years of material planning expertise in a manufacturing setting A track record of constructing and guiding cross-functional teams A reputation for being versatile, flexible, and attentive to detail within constantly changing priorities Proficiency with Microsoft Office History of effectively handling multiple projects and delivering on time Learn More
