Mid-Level Flight Operations Engineer

Omitron is seeking a Mid-Level Flight Operations Engineer to provide flight dynamics and satellite operations support to NASA's Flight Dynamics Facility (FDF) on our team in Greenbelt, MD. The FDF provides analysis, mission design, and operational support to multiple launch vehicles such as the Atlas V, Delta IV, Falcon 9, and Vulcan, Human Spaceflight missions such as the International Space Station (ISS), Cygnus, Dream Chaser, and Cargo Dragon spacecrafts, and astronaut missions such as Crew Dragon, Orion, Soyuz, and the CST-100 Starliner spacecrafts. The facility also performs analysis, mission preparation, and development activities for the upcoming lunar missions comprising NASA's Artemis program, which includes the Gateway outpost. Responsibilities:Mission operations support, including planning, real-time console operations, and anomaly investigation and resolution; mission operations, including off-hours and occasional shift workOrbit determination support for the ISS and visiting spacecraftLaunch vehicle and payload support beginning with pre-mission development and continuing through launch and early orbit periods of spaceflightTroubleshooting and recovery during fast-paced, real-time mission activitiesOverseeing and conducting flight dynamics-related analyses and data handling; researching and introducing new technologies and/or techniques to the FDFDocumenting and communicating analysis work via technical conference papers, journal publications, and presentationsCreating or analyzing simulations/simulated dataSupport software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, acceptance testing, and deploymentSome travel may be required. Minimum Requirements:US Citizenship requiredSecurity Clearance: Must have or be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearanceEducation: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplineExperience: 4+ years of relevant experience OR 2+ years with a Master's degreeUnderstanding of orbital mechanics and flight dynamicsExperience with scripting languages, including Python and/or MATLABExperience with STKData handling and analytics (data analysis, bulk data processing, Monte Carlo, etc.)Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skillsMust demonstrate an ability and willingness to multi-task and be capable of applying innovative ideas to solve problemsMust demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively on a team and initiative to lead projects to completion Desired SkillsExperience with Windows, Linux, and UNIX environmentsExperience developing tools in Python and/or Matlab; Intermediate-to-advanced scripting ability demonstrated on large projectsExperience in a spacecraft operations environmentSpecific experience in flight dynamics, spacecraft communications, or general aerospace engineeringWorking knowledge of the space communication and tracking Networks (preferably NASA's Space and Direct to Earth Networks)Working knowledge of astrodynamics engines such as FreeFlyer,  or GMAT Company Overview: Omitron is an Aerospace Engineering and Information Technology small business firm headquartered in Beltsville, Maryland with a field office located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $115,000 depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
