What is this career opportunity?
Do you want to be involved with the management and design architecture for the State's Enterprise Network Layer 4/Layer 7 Firewalls, VPN's and Network Security Appliances? Do you want to design, plan and lead the implementation of emerging network security technologies from the ground up? You may be the person we are looking for!
You would perform activities to design, architect, and manage the network layer 4/layer 7 firewall and network security appliance infrastructure for the State's Enterprise SUMMITNET Network. In addition, you would lead the configuration, management, and review of the security policies for the State's enterprise network layer 4/Layer 7 firewalls, VPN's, and security appliances. You would conduct and assist in Proof-of-Concept tests as well as conduct engineering planning and design sessions with the State's various networking vendor partners. You would also assist with various network security audits and risk assessments as well as assist with network disaster recovery planning. An average of 15% of your time would be spent traveling, and 5% of that would be overnight trips.

What are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field, and three years of applicable experience; OR
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Preferred:
Palo Alto PCNSA or Cisco CCNA Certification
Knowledge of:

Network routing protocols such as IPv4/IPv6 OSPF and BGP
·
Multi-Protocol- Label-Switching (MPLS) vrf routing
·
Industry best practices for Enterprise Network Security
·
Network Layer 4 and 7 Firewall Technologies
·
Network Client and Site-to-Site VPN Technologies
·
Network Radius, TACACS and 802.1x Authentication Technologies
·
Palo Alto and Cisco Firewall Management
·
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) Technology
·
Cisco CCNA/CCNP
·
Experience with project management principles, practices, and techniques.
Ability to:
Recommend a variety of enterprise network firewall (L4/L7), secure VPN (Client/Site), and network authentication design solutions using resourceful approaches and research when necessary.
Design, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise network firewalls (L4/L7), VPN's (Client/Site), and 802.1x network authentication technologies;
Communicate technical information with both technical and non-technical people at all levels in state government;
Develop effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, employees of state government, and citizens of the state;
Work effectively under stressful circumstances as priority incidents occur;
Develop and document processes and procedures;
Work independently and in a team environment;
Manage competing deadlines with shifting priorities;
Deliver confident and informed decisions related to matters of Enterprise Wireless network architecture.
