Business Development Manager - Utility ProgramsAs a Business Development Manager - Utility Programs your goal is to plan, develop and identify new business opportunities specific to battery based utility programs that will build or expand profitable sales of applicable products in our energy storage business. You'll also define, plan and execute short and long term strategic goals, build key customer & utility relationships, negotiate and close business deals, while maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
This position is remote and can be located in the United States. You will do this by: Creating an action list and requirements for participation in all utility and incentive-based programs currently active in the USWorking with utility program managers and third party equipment suppliers to expedite application and approvalIdentifying key existing products that may need evaluation due to code/standards changes and helping communicate those requirements to engineering and managementEstablishing a management and reporting plan for all programs in which Briggs & Stratton is qualifiedContinuing to research and add to list any new programs that are being introduced and proposing our solutions as an early entrant into the programWorking with marketing to create announcements to channel and public when approvals are received and making sure that sales teams are advised so that targeted sales efforts are madeResearching, identifying and communicating regulations, incentives and trends related to the utility sector that affect DERs, battery storage, standby generators, etc.Identifying key transmission & distribution (T&D) associations and events and making recommendations on Briggs & Stratton participationYou are the kind of person who is/has: knowledgeable in the electric utility industrya technical acumenRequired Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or related field OR equivalent education & experienceMinimum five years experience in business development, sales, or a related role in the energy industryPreferred Qualifications: Experience in a role focused on battery storage or DERs (demand response programs)Existing relationships with key decision-makers in electric utilitiesFamiliarity with federal and state regulations pertaining to DERs, utility incentive programs, and interconnection standardsDemonstrated success leading/implementing complex multi-disciplined market/program/product analysis, research, evaluation, or product launchAdditional Knowledge & Skills: Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or locationAdvanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, other presentation, and analytical toolsAbility to identify and prioritize opportunities, develop strategic plans, and execute them effectivelyStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical and commercial challengesAbility to work independently, take initiative, and drive resultsProven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver complex customer-facing products or projectsExcellent organizational, analysis, and problem solving skills including applying analysis and statistical methods to study complex and unique business issuesProven ability to identify and use advanced customer and marketing analyticsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to build trust and value-based relationships with employees at all levels of internal and external organizationsAbility to effectively manage conflictTravel Required: % of Travel: 25 - 30%How often: Weekly to MonthlyWhere: DomesticallyWork Location: Remote / Field
CA and NY State Compensation: Salary: For this position, the expected base annual salary range is 90,000 - 140,000 USD commensurate with experience. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.SIP: This position will qualify for our Sales Incentive Program.
