The Occupational Therapist is a professional responsible for planning and administering occupational therapy evaluations, as well as planning and implementing appropriate treatment.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
Master's Degree Occupational Therapy from an accredited university (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
1 year Documentation of a satisfactory work record and experience in an institutional setting. (Preferred) And
1 year Experience working with pediatric clients. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Desire to deliver quality therapy in all client/patient care situations.
Ability to speak read and write English fluently. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Occupational Therapist District of Columbia Upon Hire (Required)
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) American Occupational Therapy Association Upon Hire (Required)
Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire (Required)

Job Functions
Perform evaluation, re-assessment, discharge, etc. in timely manner according to departmental policy. Select and administer appropriate treatment with proper attention to age-appropriate considerations, client/patient safety and dignity.
Evaluate clients/patients of all ages with rehabilitation challenges in the performance of activities required in daily life.
Respond to medical referral following standard procedure.
Individual client/patient plans of treatment reflect current client/patient needs.
Client assessments are communicated to appropriate individuals.
Visit note forms are completed and submitted within 24 hours of treatment per home health care agency policy and procedure.
Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines to obtain maximal benefit from client/patient treatment.
Instruct client/patient and family in treatment plan, expected outcome, and home program whenever possible.
Record treatment, client/patient response to treatment, and progress in appropriate and timely manner.
Work cooperatively with HSC Staff to contribute to the overall productivity of the team.
Stay abreast of trends and professional issues and reflects this in treatment.
Attend HSC Home Care in-services and all required meetings to increase skill.
Obtain outside continuing education and presents information to staff.
Assist as requested in program development activities, complete program development assignments thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Document assessment, plan, interactions, and interventions according to Agency's and/or health system guidelines and standards.
Referrals of clients to other health care providers are done per agency policy and procedure.
Referral information is documented accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
Attend mandatory in-service programs.
Participate in Agency's continuous quality improvement efforts.
Cooperate with and adapt to planned changes in Agency operations.
Complete incidents reports accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintenance of confidentiality of client information is demonstrated per agency policy and procedure.
Participation in development and implementation of educational programs to address staff members' needs is demonstrated.
Current professional license of Occupational Therapy is maintained and documented.

This position operates in home and community environments.
Physical Requirements

Medium Work: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Travel Requirements

This is a PRN position working standard and extended hours.
