Mitsubishi Chemical America, Inc. SoarnoL division is located in La Porte, Texas, and specializes in SoarnoL Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer (EVOH).
Additional manufacturing facilities for SoarnoL are located in Japan and the United Kingdom.
Noltex was formed in June of 1994 and purchased an idled Du Pont EVOH manufacturing facility in La Porte.
Noltex began production of SoarnoL resin in early 1996 after retrofitting the first of our plant's production lines.
Our plant primarily serves the needs of the North and South American markets, and supplements product needs in Oceania, Asia, and Europe.
With a total annual production capacity of 38,000 metric tons, our EVOH product line includes a wide variety of specialty SoarnoL grades in order to better meet the increased demand for this unique gas barrier resin.
Job Purpose
The Operations Associate (OA) serves to support production by monitoring, assessing, and manually controlling with direct physical activity, the chemical and mechanical equipment and process systems in the field to assure the production processes are functioning properly and to continually improve the process and product to achieve excellence in our business.
The Operations Associate must be able to identify, understand the purpose for, and how to start, stop, operate, disable and lock out various types of process equipment such as columns, storage tanks, pumps, valves-control/manual, compressors, and the process flow lines.
The OA must have basic process chemistry knowledge and understand the hazards associated with working with process equipment and chemicals.
Principal Accountabilities
Essential Functions:
Monitor Process and equipment by collecting samples and taking daily readings via handheld computer to assure proper mechanical operation and product quality. Adjust process conditions by manually operating process equipment in the field, as directed, per operating procedures. Prepare equipment for service by writing permits and isolating the equipment from the process so that maintenance can be performed. Prepare Process additives and remove process byproducts as needed. Keep detailed notes of daily operation events; Learn, understand, and communicate the information of the events verbally during shift change.
****May be required to perform these essential functions requiring SCBA and various other personnel protective equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
Decision Making: Monitoring and sampling of the process is routine and follows a set of standard Manually adjust the process control variables and other equipment in the field. This work is routine requiring the use of several readily understood rules and procedures in which the operator may make minor decisions that could affect the efficiency and/or accuracy of the work. Knowledge / Skills / Experience
Requirements Requires, a high school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Process Operator in a chemical or petro chemical facility. Mechanical Aptitude and working knowledge of process Must have basic personal computer proficiency. Must have ability to read/write Preferred: Vocational training; often receiving a certificate in Unit Operations, or a two-year degree in Process Technology or similar Job-related course
