Creative Financial Staffing has partnered with a growing service company located south of Boston to identify a Payroll Specialist.
Highlights of the Opportunity for the Payroll Specialist: Privately held environmental recovery organization. They specialize in health & safety, risk management & recovery. Our client is growing and expanding their product lines. They are seeking an individual who will start as a Payroll Specialist and then they can promote to a Supervisor or Manager position in the future. Our client offers competitive compensation and benefits package. Responsibilities for the Payroll Specialist include but are not limited to: Prepare and process multistate payroll for 400-600 employees on a weekly and biweekly basis.
This includes: Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of approved time, and tracking and deducting all garnishments and other special payroll deductions or additions. Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes (i.e., status changes, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, time off accruals, etc.)
are entered correctly into all applicable systems, and that information is updated Initialize journal entries and balance out accounts.
Submit bi-weekly 401(k) contributions and reconcile health insurance deductions to monthly statements. Prepare and remit federal, state, and local tax reports in a timely fashion. Responsible for weekly certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage calculations. Process off cycle checks for terminations, vacations and other payouts Responsible for the coordination efforts between payroll, human resources, operations and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g.
labor hours, overtime, leave balances, headcount, and ad hoc reports) Handle the administration of the electronic timekeeping system.
Setup each employee, valid programs for each employee's charges, and adherence to policies; monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from Paychex Assist with annual 401k audit. Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist: Associates Degree or experience equivalent 3+ year(s) experience of full cycle multi-state payroll experience Paychex experience in a Payroll Specialist role highly desirable Ability to work in a fast-paced high volume environment.
Must have strong attention to detail.
