Description:
The Neuropsychology Director is responsible for the operational management of the Neuropsychologists and Psychometrists within the practice. Working with the Chief of Neurology, the Director oversees clinical staffing, scheduling, performance, and people management for the practice.
Experience 8 years of experience in direct assessment and care of children with complex medical and neurologic conditions 5 years of experience in program development and leadership in a pediatric hospital or health care setting Experience in employee management, performance coaching, and fiscal management Experience building and maintaining partnerships between clinical and non-clinical collaborators and/or stakeholders Preferred Qualifications 10 or more years of experience in direct assessment and care of children with complex medical and neurologic conditions Education Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA)/Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited program Completion of a formal postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology, with an emphasis in pediatrics Certification Summary Board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) or American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN) Licensed Psychologist or eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in neuropsychological and/or psychological assessments and/or treatments of children, adolescents, and young adults Excellent writing and independent research skills Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Strategic planning and community partnership development Demonstrates transparency by communicating decisions and reasoning early and often Able to resolve issues promptly by removing roadblocks as necessary/appropriate Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta professional staff Job Responsibilities Provides leadership, vision, and management in accomplishing the mission and goals of the assigned focus area in education, research, patient care, and service. Oversees the administrative, clinical, quality, research, and training activities of the department. Builds collaborative partnerships within the Department and across the institution to achieve top priorities and promote clinical excellence. Oversees the development, implementation, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines for the Department. Ensures appropriate and continuous coverage of inpatient, outpatient, and consultative services at all relevant clinical sites. Leads in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services of assigned focus area. Devises and monitors appropriate programs of assessment and treatment in collaboration with colleagues. Coordinates research initiatives in the program, including design, execution, and dissemination of research findings that withstand external peer review. Assists in the development and monitoring of strategic vision, annual goals, and program services. Ensures compliance and oversight with appropriate agencies, protocols, and practices. Works with the departmental business and clinical leaders to ensure operational collaboration and oversight of departmental program, policies, and practices to promote the delivery of safe patient care. Develops and maintains internal and community relationships to ensure excellent communication and collaboration regarding focus area programs and services and outcomes reporting. Fosters a collegial environment that supports the successful recruitment, retention, and development of outstanding providers and staff. Evaluates the performance of faculty, students, and graduates, ensuring that goals and professional standards are met or exceeded. Manages employee performance and encourages professional development of assigned staff by supporting participation in educational programs, professional organizations, and activities to promote competencies, develop and build job-related skills, and promote internal leadership. Participates in activities and initiatives of the training programs. Develops and monitors annual operating budget for focus area. Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees. Mentors team members to encourage personal and professional growth and encourages ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education. Ensure participation of Section personnel in quality improvement, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
