Percussion Instructor

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Position: Part-time
Duties: Provide one-on-one and group percussion instruction to Navy and Marine Corps musicians. Conduct weekly lessons, each lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. Perform administrative tasks, including updating instructional materials and maintaining student records. Administer proficiency assessments for students. Develop lesson plans to address students' strengths and weaknesses. Utilize NAVSOM's curriculum in classical, jazz, and commercial music styles. Develop and deliver remedial training for students with substandard performance. Prepare students for performance assessments. Requirements: Master of Music in Music Education and/or Performance (DMA preferred) or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Experience in both classical and commercial music styles. Proficiency in ear training and music theory. Ability to carry musical instruments up to 40 pounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
