Southern California Permanente Medical Group is seeking an outstanding Endocrinology Section Chief located within the Medicine Service Line.
This is a full-time position, which includes a mix of clinical care, teaching, research, and administration.

Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the Endocrinology Section. Ensure that high-quality patient care is delivered in a resourceful and efficient manner. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Manage a thyroid ultrasound and biopsy program, teach, and perform the technique of thyroid ultrasound and fine needle aspiration biopsies of thyroid nodules. Provide compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient care for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. High-quality teaching and supervision of trainees at all levels from medical student to fellow. Oversee the administrative functions of the Endocrinology section, including evaluating and implementing new technologies, oversight of the quality improvement program, and addressing performance deficiencies. Prepare and justify Section business plans, facilitate recruitment, selection, appraisal, and recognition of employees. Oversee the residency/fellowship program as the VA Endocrinology Fellowship Program Site Director, assuring compliance with ACGME standards. Assist the Medicine Service Chief in resource utilization and accomplishment of local, VISN, and national goals. Provide shared coverage of endocrine care during off-tours. Minimum Requirements: United States Citizenship. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Endocrinology Board Certification preferred. Minimum eight years of experience as a clinical endocrinologist. Minimum four years of experience as a collaborating physician for advanced nurse practitioners. Minimum four years of leadership experience in an Endocrinology Fellowship as a Program Director. Experience leading quality improvement projects and clinical trials as Principal Investigator. Experience in successful grant applications aiming to improve Veteran's health. Active research program and experience in clinical investigation of thyroid disorders documented by authorship of at least twenty-five peer-reviewed publications. Faculty position at an academic institution for a minimum of eight years. Physical Requirements: Light lifting, under 15 pounds. Light carrying, under 15 pounds. Walking and standing for 8 hours. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Rotating call on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Occasional telework may be approved at the discretion of the supervisor.
