PIPE LAYER Layton Services is a commercial, industrial, and residential excavation contractor that has been family-owned and operated in Central Ohio for 30 years. Our services primarily include earthwork, sitework (mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep) and underground utilities (water main, fire line, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and detention systems). Located in Newark, Ohio with a majority of work in Columbus, Licking County and surrounding area. Summary of Role: Lay pipe for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline (main/service) and drains. Install pipe bedding and seal joints. Ability and willingness to labor and operate equipment as needed.
Job Duties & Responsibilities: Install/ repair underground pipe systems (and structures) for sanitary, stormwater, domestic water and fire line utilities. Ability to productively use: lasers, grade rods and transit levels. Knowledge of proper cement/ glue adhesives for pipe connection per type. Ability to check slopes for compliance using lasers or levels. Safely use a partner saw/ sawzall to cut pipe as needed. Ability to read + understand plans and cut sheets. Maintain an efficient workflow (by identifying type of pipe + required material/ tools necessary to properly/ productively install). Education and/or Experience: 2+ years of industry-related experience. Trenching + Excavating Certification (can obtain once hired). 10 Hour OSHA Certificate in Construction (can obtain once hired). Reliable Transportation Ability to relate well to others, a positive attitude + willingness to learn. Benefits: Negotiable Pay Range ($25-$30/HR based on individual skills + experience).
