Plant Engineer /Psm Engineer

This position works in the engineering department and provides day to day technical support as needed to the assigned plant (North plant, SiC Plant, and/or HPE-1). Is the equipment owner for the plant and should serve as the technical expert in the plant. Serves as a liaison between engineering, operations and maintenance/facilities for capital projects. Takes on Engineering ownership for engineering PSM responsibilities in the given area of responsibility. Identifies and executes improvement projects for the plant as assigned to promote cost savings and to improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness. Assists in the transfer of new production technology and products from R&D and the Business Line where needed as it applies to technical changes. Develops new work instructions when implementing new processes/equipment and initiates modifications to existing work instructions where applicable. Supports and possibly serves as a lead for safety reviews (PHAs and PSSRs). Serves as the technical lead and provides follow up on action items as assigned. Participates in the MOC process by serving as the MOC Coordinator for changes when assigned and manages changes to Process Safety Information (i.e. specs, technical drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, etc.). Works with the Engineering Team, Plant Management and Maintenance Supervision to ensure compliance and consistency in the assigned area.

Abides by Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality (EHSQ) Compliance especially as it applies to OSHA PSM, ISO9001 and RC14001.Supports the PSM program by managing closure of PHA recommendations and actions as assigned, facilitating changes through the MOC process, updating the Process Safety Information as changes are made, and ensuring that critical equipment is included in the mechanical integrity program.Identifies and manages improvement projects as assigned in the plant(s) to reduce manufacturing costs, to reduce the cost of ownership, to improve sustainability and to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness.Utilizes efficient management of time and resources to ensure production and maintenance schedules and daily goals.Provide technical ownership for the assigned plant(s) by troubleshooting equipment and identifying and leading process control system improvements with the assistance of the process control engineer and following the MOC process. Is the equipment owner in the assigned plant.Supports capital investment in the plants by developing project scopes, leading in the selection of new process equipment, designing process control strategies and commissioning. Is the Project Manager or Project Responsible on select small projects.As it applies to the equipment technical needs, supports the transfer of new product technology and products from R&D and the Business Lines to the plant.Performs all other duties as assigned by management.Accepts responsibility for his or her own safety and health. Performs assigned duties in a manner that is safe and protective of the environment. Follows operating procedures to ensure a safe and environmentally protective workplace. Observes and reports all incidents and unsafe conditions. Takes an active interest in improving safety and environmental protection.REQUIREMENTS BS in Chemical Engineering3-5 years in a chemical manufacturing plantExperience in a PSM manufacturing facility a plusAbility to understand and operate a personal computer and associated software systems. (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Emerson Delta-V, Aspen PIMS, etc.)Ability to manage time and determine priorities to meet job requirements.Ability to maintain good communication of job responsibility status and priorities.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.Company is Evonik Corporation
