Plc Controls Specialist

The PLC Controls Specialist will safely and efficiently maintain, troubleshoot, and work to improve the electrical and automation subsystems within the production facility.
\n Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited toAdhere to safe work practices, complete monthly safety audits/observations, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safetyEffectively communicate the status of issues and projects with management, vendors, peers, and production personnelProvide technical leadership and support to the electrical and instrumentation technicians at the facilityUse the appropriate tools (e.g. multimeter, software) to troubleshoot and diagnose the root cause of electrical, electronics, Instrumentation, and controls issues in the facilityWork with internal and external resources to resolve issues as quickly and effectively as possibleInterpret electrical schematics and user manualsTroubleshoot process issues with automation software, hardware issues with PLCs (programmable logic controllers), and touchscreensUse advanced network troubleshooting to diagnose control networking issuesWork with IT to troubleshoot and maintain automation serversCreate user manuals and training documentation; train all technicians as appropriateIdentify and facilitate process and automation improvementsIdentify necessary program changes and work with Corporate Controls to implementAssist and consult with management/engineering on projects as neededProvide support and leadership to the electrical, electronics and instrumentations techniciansManage, backup, and organize all automation related documentation for the facility (programs, schematics, network information, manuals, etc.)Shift/weekend work may be requiredAbility to travel up to 25% Required Skills and Experience2-year certification from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience5 years strong industrial electrical background in a manufacturing environmentAbility to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as electrical schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals in EnglishAbility to write routine reports, procedural manuals, and correspondence in EnglishAbility to effectively present information in both one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including the managementExperience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell automation Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, responding appropriately to changing prioritiesMust be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision Preferred Skills and ExperienceFood Processing or Production Plant experience preferredExperience in mechanical systems and pneumaticsElectrical Apprentice or Journeyman's license Physical RequirementsRegularly required to use hands to feel, grab, or operate objects, tools, and controls while reaching with hands and armsFrequently required to stand, communicate, and listenOccasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouchOccasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsVisual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusAble to perform repetitive movementsAble to work in variable temperatures (cold/hot)
