Job DescriptionAs a valued colleague on the Capital Markets Pricing and Valuation team, you will assist with supporting the team valuing Fannie Mae's Asset and Liability portfolios using financial industry knowledge, applying mathematical/fixed income models to business or financial data. Your efforts will enable the team to provide market valuations to internal customers, implement business initiatives, analyze or report on business performance, solve business questions, or inform business decisions. Work may include developing models or prototypes to achieve these goals but is not the core focus in the role.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE The Pricing - Financial Engineering - Associate role will offer you the opportunity to make an impact, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
Work as part of a team to create cash flow models, pricing methodologies and valuation techniques to support Fannie Mae's fixed-income portfolios and new business initiatives.Discuss markets and fixed income concepts and trends with internal and external market participants, including Trade Desk, Risk Groups, and Third-party participants.Execute daily fair-value pricing for the Company's loans, securities, debt, and derivative portfolio for use by the Trade Desks, Risk Management, and Financial Reporting.Research market activity and risk factors that could affect the pricing of the portfolios.Execute pricing methodologies and strategies to ensure pricing is consistent with current market environment and reduce operational risk.Document and report on processing or analyzing large amounts of data efficiently using advanced financial engineering tools and techniques.Contribute to financial analysis or forecasting, which may include scenario or sensitivity analysis, stress testing, or attribution analysis.Participate in executing models and/or interpreting model results. Assist with translating the results from the analysis or models for the customer into understandable conclusions.Assist model builders to vet new models, suggest changes to existing models, or analyze model performance data.Perform data and systems analysis, validation, and regression testing.QualificationsTHE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM Minimum Required Experience 1-2 year of relevant experience.Desired Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent.Fixed income market experience from a trading, portfolio management, securities valuation, or research background.Strong interest to pursue CFA, CPA, FRM or CTP designation.Basic knowledge and understanding of MBS and financial markets.Understanding of fixed income analytics (DCFs, OAS, Duration/Convexity, spreads/Discount Margins).Comfortable discussing financial concepts with internal and external participants.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Advanced Excel skills.Experience with Bloomberg, Intex and other valuation tools a plus.Experience with SQL a plus.Ability to work independently to develop market research and analytics.Expectations include meeting the needs of the team and the company, and will periodically require working long days, weekends and holidays to meet production deadlines.
