Performance Responsibilities: Treat all information as confidential. Project a positive image and respond to inquiries from clients, staff, and the public in a courteous manner. Ability to successfully complete training in the effective and safe operation of screening devices. Operate hand-held metal detectors and electronic walk-through metal detectors to screen passengers for prohibited items. Perform visual searches of bags, briefcases, and other carry-on items for prohibited items. Assess situations and Notify local Law Enforcement and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator when necessary. Interact and communicate with the public, including those with limited or nonspeaking English proficiency, and individuals who may be confrontational and/or argumentative. Demonstrate proficiency in communicating with diverse people using the following skills and abilities: Must be able to sit, stand, lift, and/or bend throughout the shift (2-4 hours at a time). Deal courteously and communicate effectively with fellow team members. Report all Government tests, real weapons, injuries and other major incidents to the supervisor immediately. Keep supervisor informed of needs and problems in assigned areas, maintain cleanliness of immediate work area and report maintenance needs. Perform other duties as requested. Requirements: Ability to read and write as part of the Identification verification of all passengers and the ability to communicate any changes to Ground Security Coordinator. Must be a minimum of 18 years or older Valid Driver's License or reliable transportation to and from the job Pass Background Check and DOT drug screening High School Diploma or equivalent Be a US citizen or permanent resident and have a valid work permit Physically capable of bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
