Salary Range: $50/hour (approximately 700 hours annually)
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Production Director, the Production Coordinator is responsible for overseeing logistics, equipment, and crew for all production activities of the National Dance Institute's (NDI) In-School Program's (ISP) which take place in 53 partner schools in New York City's 5 boroughs. This position is responsible for assisting in assessing the level of support needed in schools, and scheduling production crew, transport of necessary equipment and supplies from the Jacques d'Amboise Center for Arts and Learning (JdA Center) in Harlem to partner schools. Production Coordinator collaborates with the Production Assistant, Program Director of In-School Programs, and Music Director.
Responsibilities: In collaboration with Production Director, Director of In-School Programs, and Music Director, assess production needs of schools and assign equipment and crew accordingly.Create and maintain master schedule of production needs (equipment and crew) including relevant transportation, for all performances.Communicate schedule to production crew and relevant NDI staff ensuring all are up to date on any changes.Engage over hire production crew, assigning them to schools to execute rehearsals and performances according to the needs of each school.Arrange transportation of equipment, production crew, and supplies to support the series of performances in partner schools.Be responsible for maintaining equipment, including proper tracking across schools and repairs and proper storage at the JdA Center.Be available during active hours of In-School Program rehearsals and performances to respond to questions, cover for any crew members' absences due to illness, injury, traffic delays, etc.Manage logistics and track expenses within the budget set by Production Director.Confirm hours worked for production crew for payroll purposes.Maintain files related to production resources at each school.Track and maintain all perishable supplies.Contribute to building and maintaining a list of qualified production crew members.Participate in training of production crew members.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required, with 5+ years professional experience in similar positions, or the equivalent in relevant work experience. Touring experience, and work in educational settings is a plus.Thorough understanding of all aspects involved in technical theater, primarily audio and lighting.Excellent communication skills—written, oral, and visual.Strong organizational skills: calendar management, budget management, project management.Ability to plan and execute detailed logistics of schedule, personnel, and transportation.Ability to work productively under time pressures and meet deadlines.Ability to respond and adapt plans to changing schedules and circumstances.Possess strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (both Mac and PC), and Google Workspace.Ability to read and understand technical drawings.Connections to a pool of theatrical technicians.Valid driver's license.Vendor contacts a plus.Physical requirements:
• Ability to maneuver up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time including maneuvering up and down ladders and stairs.
Work Hours:
This position is hybrid, part-time / seasonal with peak work periods November, December, February, April – August. In peak times, the In-School performance schedules requiring Production Coordinator's support may be 12+ hours in a day, on site and off. Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays depending on project demands. Schedule is set by Production Director.

For every 30 hours worked = 1 hour of sick leave.Benefits Beginning in January 2025: Upon 1 year of employment when employees reach 500 hours of employment, they are eligible for health care benefits.Upon 2 consecutive years of employment in which employees reach 500 hours each year they are eligible to contribute to NDI's retirement plan, and 1000 hours each year they are eligible for employer contributions to retirement plan.About NDI:
