Production Manager

PRODUCTION MANAGER
Directs and oversees the Manufacturing functions of the company.  This position is responsible for production planning, organizing and scheduling of production for producing product to meet customer delivery requirements by planning and directing the production workflow, methods, and inventory utilization.  Responsible for the direct supervision of the Hydraulic, Electrical, Package, Hose and Modular Fabrication Departments mainly involved with the fabrication, assembly and testing of fluid power motion and control systems.  Leads and directs the work of the Material / Production Coordinator in the creation of orders and release of materials.  Directly responsible for the purchasing of raw materials, purchased and manufactured parts and components, sourcing of sub-assemblies and complete units to meet specified shipping dates.   Accountable for results in terms of hourly performance, methods, quality, scheduling and on time delivery 
\n Essential FunctionsWork closely with the fabrication personnel, Material / Production Coordinator, Engineering Manager, Purchasing, Accounting, and Warehouse departments.Responsible for prioritizing of production releases and long lead time component orders to meet the requirement dates of the customer.  Responsible for the prefabrication review of all projects / job files with the project engineers prior to the release to manufacturing - to involve the manufacturability, outsourcing identification and test requirements associated with the completed assemblies.  Responsible for scheduling and assigning work to employees directly.  Plan, assist, direct and inspect work of the employees in proper methods, procedures, operations and duties.  Responsible for inventory reduction and management related to all Hope Group assemblies, components and miscellaneous materials associated with fabrication assemblies.   Directly responsible for the following activities: Develops plans for control of production output, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, and production effectiveness.Develops and implements all plans in ManufacturingEstablishes objectives and quality procedures governing the performance of assigned activities in manufacturing, repairs and service.Reviews performance against operating plans and standards: communicates with and reports to subordinates on analysis and interpretation of results (productivity, quality, safety, on-time delivery), and approves change to direction of plans.Identifies production training needs and ensures they are met.  Keeps employees informed as to departmental plans and progressResponsible for conducting the weekly production meeting in addition to oversees the updating and distribution of the production schedule.Participates in the weekly Senior Leadership Team meeting.Develops, approves, and recommends corporate manufacturing policy.Reviews and approves cost control reports, manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.Reviews and approves major projects involving major functional changes within the areas of Manufacturing, Repairs and Service.Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the Company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities. Establishes and maintains files on production related issues as they pertain to the specific job.  Initiates documentation review with engineering in all projects prior to release to manufacturing.  Coordinates and implements change orders between fabrication and engineering throughout the fabrication process.  Monitors the layout and assembly of units to assure compliance to required due dates, engineering documentation, customer requirements, established fabrication processes and quality standards.  Oversees the testing of completed units, approve / reject test results and coordinate corrective action. Provides final approval of all units prior to shipping.  Communicates abnormalities on job variances to engineering during manufacturing.  Monitors labor hours in comparison with project quotes. Responsible for directing and overseeing the Material / Production Coordinator in the prioritizing and performance of tasks associated with all data entry and clerical responsibilities.   Leads other administrative personnel as required to maintain production schedules, monitor and expedite material delivery, etc.  Oversee the completion and monthly maintenance by the Material / Production Coordinator of the following reports and schedules.  Provide back-up assistance in the maintenance of these reports and schedules when required.Engineering Quote and PO LogsNew Orders SpreadsheetOrder Entry and Change OrdersTribute Manufacturing Module SoftwareProduction ScheduleEngineering and Fabrication WIP and Spreadsheet For Month-End Revenue Reporting Job Shipped Spreadsheet For Month-End Sales ReportingLabor Hours Billed Spreadsheet For Month-End Labor Revenue ReportingAvailable Man Hours Spreadsheet For Production PlanningNew Orders Spreadsheet For Visibility Of New Orders Before Being EnteredJob Serial Number RegisterLabor Hour Reporting and E-Time MaintenanceExpense Purchase Order Control And RegisterFabrication Shop Supply Ordering Job close excess parts reviewWork with material schedules and customer required deliveries to create, manage and measure the data utilized in establishing and meeting production requirements.      Oversee the creation and maintenance of production schedules and material procurement schedules for the fabrication departments.  Obtain and coordinate order delivery information between all departments and customer.  Coordinate with The Hope Group's purchasing department on the placement of material orders for use in the assembly of fabricated product.Work from computer and manually generated "job sheets", engineer requests, change order notices and other verbal and or written information to place orders for fabricated assemblies, follow-up and expedite purchases as required to meet production requirements.Participate and oversee the recording of commitments, material status, engineering status and required actions identified during the weekly production meeting.  Coordinate the material availability, engineering design documentation availability and production labor availability to assure meeting the customer required delivery dates.  Perform purchasing duties such as obtaining quotes and developing new vendors for specialty fabricated and miscellaneous expense items.  Develop material shortage sheets and expedite material when necessary.    Oversee the processing of  DMR's, RGA's, vendor / customer debits, vendor / customer credits and coding of invoices for payment to vendors.Responsible for the selection of vendors and coordination of replacements or substitutes for unavailable or hard to get components as needed to meet delivery and or production schedules.  Responsible for inventory management and purchasing of all consumable materials for the fabrication departments.  Work closely with the engineering manager in identifying consumable material demand forecast.   Responsible for all purchasing of non-distributor items relating to fabrications.Oversee the release of fabricated product for shipment.  Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager on the freight, packaging and handling of all international shipments and large assemblies.  Participate in Kaizen and quality improvement processes and Strategic Planning.Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
