Position Title: Production Manager Department: Production Pay Type: Salary Nonunion: Yes Primary Work Location: Campus-wide Employment Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: Full time (40 hours per week) Exempt Status: Exempt Reports To: Director of Production Supervises: Technical Director, Costume Shop Manager, Craft Shop Supervisor Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 Annually Position Summary The Production Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of the Scene Shop, Costume Shop, Craft Shop and Properties Shop within the production department. Must engage in efficient and thorough communication with design teams during the design and build process. In conjunction with the Director of Production, develop and oversee the production budget as it relates to materials and labor in the shops. Essential Functions Collaborate with the Producing Artistic Director, Director of Production and CFO on budget development, staffing and policy issues within the shops. Review and approve all production shop expenses and track the production budget for the fiscal year. Communicate with designers regarding preliminary designs and collaborate to ensure the artistic integrity of each design is accomplished within the available parameters of budget, time, and personnel. Coordinate with managers to oversee the organization of shops and to supply the production staff with the necessary tools to accomplish design goals and departmental maintenance. Collaborate with Technical Director and Costume Shop Manager to source and negotiate contracts for rental of equipment and/or costumes. Work with production department heads to create a positive and productive work environment. Counsel staff as workplace issues arise and facilitate solutions in coordination with the Producing Artistic Director and Director of Production. Additional duties as assigned by the Producing Artistic Director and Director of Production. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in technical theater, theater management, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 4-5 years' experience in technical theater management, preferably in a production management role. A solid understanding of theater production and artistic processes. An understanding of theatrical design/construction, automation, theatrical rigging, hydraulics, pyrotechnics and costume/ crafts. Passion for professional live theater.- Energetic self-starter with exceptional attention to detail. Skills/Abilities Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to manage relationships with a diverse range of personalities in various departments and roles within the organization. Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information quickly and accurately and to implement directives. Outstanding organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, multi-task, while maintaining safety standards/procedures. Ability to work with diplomacy and tact. Excellent computer skills, such as Excel, Word, Google Calendar; experience or familiarity with CAD programs. Ability to maintain complete and strict confidentiality of all sensitive information. Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time, and lift objects related to live theater.
