IT Project Manager I Contract: 6-month contract, likely to extend based upon performance Location: Jackson, MI (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY – hybrid schedule – M, T, Th required onsite) The Project Manager is responsible for the performance of several small to medium sized technical projects, several moderate sized projects, or a definable portion of a larger project or program in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. This position will report to the IT PMO and will not be managing projects. PMO activities include reporting, performing Health Checks/Gate reviews, interfacing with multiple delivery portfolios and non-functional groups, and working with the rest of the PMO team to ensure all projects are on track. Responsibilities Directs and supervises support resources for the performance of project assignments and activities. Manages the technical direction of a project through the design, implementation, and testing in accordance with project objectives. Use PPM tools to review project work plans, issues, risks, and dependencies. Produce status reports, conduct status meetings, and facilitate issue resolution and risk management sessions. Developing presentations and identifying process improvement opportunities. Skills Excellent planning skills using industry planning applications (i.e. Clarity/CA PPM, Microsoft project) Attention to detail Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methodologies Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills Ability to resolve complex technical issues Ability to manage, coordinate, guide a project team of technical professionals Good leadership skills Ability to manage moderately complex projects Good negotiation skills Ability to work well with mid to senior management Five or more years in IT related project management, planning and scheduling medium sized projects Scheduling/planning/management across multiple small to medium sized teams. Experience working in a project management office (PMO) Budgeting Forecasting Excel PowerPoint Process Facilitation PMO Agile Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field PMI/Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
