We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer in our Nuclear division to join the Corporate QA team at our headquarters in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will assist with and provide for the planned and systematic approach to the company's Quality Assurance Program by ensuring that corporate programs, pump repairs and services conform to established requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a basic understanding of ASME Section III, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and NQA-1 and have a desire to be trained and mentored to achieve an expert level of understanding of these standards. The candidate may work toward becoming a qualified NQA-1 lead auditor and will have some experience working in the nuclear power industry.
Key Job Duties: Interpret the requirements of quality standards, such as ASME Section III, NQA-1, ISO-9001, and 10CFR50 Appendix B, for their application to Quality Assurance Program and to our supply baseServe as an interface with customers, regulators, and registrars during audits of such as NRC, ASME, NUPIC, etcSupport internal auditsSupport maintenance of ASME CertificatesSupport preparation of ASME Code Data Report Forms for Section III componentsSupport reviews of corrective actions and non-conformance reports for 10CFR Part 21 applicabilityOrganize and maintain quality record filesDefine and develop quality standards for receiving, in-process and final inspection in accordance with company and contractual requirementsMeet with customers, vendors, and various company departments to resolve quality problems and to provide informationParticipate in and lead auditsProvide technical support to inspection personnel as neededAssume responsibility for the structure, control, and maintenance of quality program, procedures, work instructions, and recordsKnowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics (KSAOs): Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilityKnowledge of various nuclear codes as outlined aboveFamiliarity with the nuclear industry and quality assurance practicesStrong oral and written comprehension and expressionHigh level of attention-to-detailAbility to collaborate effectively in a team settingKnowledge of engineering principlesEducation & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering
