Now Hiring a Mechanical Inspector Level 2 (Part-Time) We are seeking a Mechanical Inspector Level 2 to perform part-time source inspections. This role involves both in-process and final inspections of critical features and requires a meticulous approach to ensure products meet high-quality standards.
Location: Cedar City, UT| Part-Time | Compensation: $29-$31| Immediate Need
Key Responsibilities: Perform inspections on incoming materials from external providers, including specialized processing services (e.g., nickel plating).
Conduct in-process and final inspections of critical product features, including witness inspection tasks such as CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) program runs.
Inspection Sign-Off: Compile final inspection sign-off sheets and complete inspection packages.
Equipment and Methodology Validation: Verify that inspection equipment is capable of detecting defects and ensure that inspection methodologies align with drawing requirements and intent.
Review Uninspected Parts: Review and validate any justification for parts that have not undergone final inspection.
Audit Inspection Plans: Conduct audits to ensure adherence to the inspection plan, if applicable.
Quality Assurance Duties: Product Quality: Ensure products are free of gaps, mismatches, and other defects, and meet acceptable contour, waviness, and workmanship standards (e.g., free from oil canning, scratches, dings, and burrs).
Inspect visible finishes, paint, and skin quality to ensure compliance with visual standards.
Verify that hardware, such as fasteners, are installed correctly and safety wire is applied properly according to specification requirements.
Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Inspection: Verify that all parts are free from internal or external foreign object debris (FOD).
Product Preservation and Protection: Ensure the supplier has provisions in place for the protection and preservation of inspected products during subsequent processing and shipment.
First Article Inspection (FAI): Verify that First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements are complete according to the engineering configuration and Production Documentation (PD).
Review the FAI Report (FAIR) for completeness, traceability, and compliance, and evaluate any open issues affecting the product being inspected.
Shipping Documentation Review: Verify that all shipping documents are legible and contain the correct information (part number, serial number, configuration, and destination).
Requirements: ITAR requirements
Personal vehicle for transportation
Ability to pass a criminal background check
Experience with inspection methodologies, quality standards, and compliance auditing
Attention to detail and the ability to detect product defects
This part-time role is critical in ensuring that all products meet strict quality standards before they progress to subsequent stages or are shipped to customers.
