JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as the TVA Transmission expert in Network Operations and provides expert direction and guidance and is the primary network specialist for Transmission, and as such plans, schedules, coordinates and performs work for the analysis, specification, design, development, installation, test, documentation, and maintenance of real time process monitoring/control computer systems, and related technical/scientific security applications for power generating stations.
Acts as coordinator to ensure that infrastructure stays in NERC CIP compliance with configurations, patches, and approved designs. Active participant, leader, and owner in the change management process to properly execute change with minimum impact to the services provided. Actively engaged in improving and automating change processes.
Provides authoritative advice to management on Cisco Firewall patching and compliance for NERC CIP.
Analysis and design work may include development and specification of interfaces to plant process systems and equipment. Work assignments may include the development of complex custom computer software interfaces with other computer systems.
Performs work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and application of analysis and programming techniques.
Develops and implements procedures, policies, and standards, but which may include a variety of conflicting requirements or constraints and difficult, complex coordination requirements.
Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply software/hardware quality assurance requirements and programming standards for complex configurations.
Provide tier 3 expert support to Operational Technology (OT) peers as needed to properly support the OT infrastructure on a 24x7 basis including on-call duties and emergency support, including vendor coordination and business coordination. Expert resource for a broad subject area of network technologies.
Provides technical review and approval for all network configurations submitted to management including project planning, engineering packages, change requests, and technology deployment for Transmission Reliability Control Networks and SCADA.
May coordinate the work of multidiscipline engineers, systems analysts, programmer analysts, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments. SERC and NERC Audit experience required .
Can act as a technical or team leader for specific scopes of work for finite periods of time, generally but not limited to work scopes valued at less than $250,000.
Develops system diagrams for system processes and infrastructure at the A/B/C levels and associated training for managing infrastructure, resources, administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
Technically supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work related to the Network Infrastructure and processes including projects and preventative maintenance for Infrastructure Systems .

Independently performs assignments with instructions as to general results expected. Incumbent plans and executes the work with minimal supervision and works under the direction of a team leader or department manager.
Supervision is neither close not continuous, nor is the work reviewed for technical accuracy, but is reviewed for conformance to guidelines and attainment of objectives. Directions are given primarily during discussions of program project activities with program managers and specialists.
SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES:
Ability to work with or lead a cross-functional team of professionals .
Ability to direct and mentor A, B, and C levels on complex issues impacting the infrastructure and TVA business processes .
Expert Knowledge of Cisco IOS, CISCO Nexus NXOS, ISOXR, Routers, Switches, and Firewall, F5 Load balancing, InfoBlox, DNS Server, RSA authentication.
TACACS, HPNA and HPNNMI, syslog server, IDS, Ethernet protocols, and the 7 layers of the OSI Model.
Expert knowledge and understanding of a broad range of management, compute, and networking technologies.
Expert Knowledge of Virtual Private Networking, and MPLS Virtual switching .
Strong Knowledge of virtual technologies UNIX and Windows Server, VMWare .
Ability to work with or lead a cross-functional team of professionals.
In depth knowledge and understanding of a broad range of management, compute, and networking technologies.
Must have an in-depth working knowledge of TVA High Availability Systems and/or Critical Infrastructure within TVA's Bulk Electric System .
Strong interpersonal and communications skills .
Capable of analyzing complex technical problems and situations and independently arriving at optimal solutions.
Knowledge of server security issues and the use of system security features and/or firewall implementation .
Capable of a high degree of self-motivation and self-direction .
Ability to write scripts in some administrative language such as Tk, Perl, "C", and various shells scripting languages .
In-depth understanding and highly proficient in the use of the UNIX and/or Windows NT operating systems used at TVA as well as knowledge of Symantec products .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field from an accredited college or university, or the equivalent education and training with additional extensive experience is required.
Must have the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. (preferred) . Must have Cisco Certified Network Associate certification and Cisco Certified Network Professional (preferred).
Several years' experience in the more difficult aspects of Real Time Process Systems, including the knowledge of advanced concepts and practices related to computer system design, development and security maintenance; demonstrated proficiency in the more difficult analyses, specifications, development, modification, maintenance, testing, and documentation of computer systems and software used in process monitoring/control systems and technical/scientific software applications related to power generation; and demonstrated proficiency in technical writing such as software documentation, procedures, and technical reports.
Membership in additional professional technical societies is desirable. Must be able to obtain and Maintain ADP I Clearance.
Must be able and willing to assume on-call rotational assignments which may include 24/7 availability. Travel will be required at times to carry out project work. Must be willing to relocate if necessary to ensure a maximum of 1/2 hour response time to the System Operations Center and the Regional Operations Center in Chattanooga.
