Position Overview: The Resource Registered Nurse coordinates the plan of care, provides direct age appropriate nursing interventions and patient education, by collaborating with ancillary, nursing and other patient team personnel. Directs the team of CNA's, LPN's and Ward Secretaries. This position may also be responsible for performing CNA and clerical duties as needed. Works under the supervision of the nurse manager and or charge nurse.
Essential Functions:
Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.
Uses acceptable standards of practice based on nursing process and theory to help the
individual/family/group, with complex and unpredictable needs, identify and meet basic age-appropriate health needs. The nurse coordinates care of the individual/family/group using a multidisciplinary holistic approach. Follows direction from the charge RN to complete and assist in the logistical work flow of the unit.
Promotes a climate in which consumers can act in their own interest or intervenes when they are unable to do so.
Uses the nursing process and theory to provide age-appropriate individual, family, guardian, and/or designated surrogate, education using a wide range of teaching activities to promote health.
Works to achieve desired health care outcomes by effectively utilizing human and material resources.
Is accountable for the ethical, legal and professional responsibilities related to nursing practice across all the roles, within the scope of practice.
This position may also be responsible for performing CNA and clerical duties as needed.
The resource position will assist as needed based on the direction of the charge RN. This includes; relief charge, discharges, admissions, med pass, lunch coverage and any other duties as assigned,
Education and Work Experience Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's, Associates, or Diploma in Nursing. Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Colorado or a Nurse Licensure Compact State.
Training and Experience: Experience in medical/surgical, telemetry, and/or joint replacement unit is preferred, but may not be required. Orientation is based on previous knowledge and experience. Additional education/training in related fields is considered on an individual basis. BCLS certification is required. PALS certification is required within 6 months of hire.
Job Knowledge: Encompass a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communications, problem-solving, critical thinking skills, assessment, and prioritizing skills.
Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner.
Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health.
Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.
The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
