General Summary: The primary objective of the DevOps Engineer is to evaluate and implement releases to our on-premise environment and releases of our mobile application to Android and IOS stores to be published to devices and our Azure Cloud subscriptions.
The DevOps Engineer reports directly to the Sr.
Manager of Release Engineering.
Our current toolset includes Bash, Docker, Git/Azure DevOps, JavaScript, Kubernetes, NET/C#, Service Fabric, Business Central, Navision, Mongo, MSMQ, PowerShell, SQL Server, Terraforms, Xamarin, YAML.
This positions location is remote but the engineer needs to support releases in the eastern time zone.
PPL began the transition to the Azure Cloud we expect to finish within our fiscal year.
The DevOps Engineer would be responsible for building and automating CI/CD pipelines, support and monitor infrastructure and deploying code and configurations based of our work-item driven SDLC.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties: Support the Release engineering team, in collaboration with ITS and TechOps.
Define and build and refresh the development, testing, staging, and production environments.
Build a reliable CI/CD pipeline.
Build the necessary monitors, alerts, for our solutions.
Play a key role in advising on Cloud Architecture and available managed services along with the trade-offs between services and components.
Write code/scripts to automate certain engineering processes, mostly related to deployment.
Participate in process improvement and setting engineering best practices with the team.
Participate in on-call, remote or on-site support and maintenance activities as needed.
Ensure our SDLC practices and standards are followed.
Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned.
Required Skills: 8 years of DevOps experience.
5 years of Azure DevOps, App Center and Azure Cloud experience.
Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving incidents in high available environments.
Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS offerings.
Certification preferred.
Experience with Networking technologies.
Experience with Windows and Linux based environments.
Programming experience using a high-level language (C#, Node.js, TypeScript etc.)
5 years of experience using a scripting language (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
5 years of experience with high available cloud storage (Azure Tables/Blobs/Queues, SQL Azure, Terraforms, Azure VMs, HD Insight, etc.)
5 year of experience with SQL Server database, TSQL and Mongo deployment.
Good verbal and written communication skills Education: Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field experience required.
