Research Plant Pathologist, Gs-12,-13,-14,-15

This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Pacific West Area (PWA), at the Sam Farr United States Crop Improvement and Protection Research Center in Salinas, CA.
In this position, you will help to improve performance of germplasm for carrot, strawberry, and leafy vegetables by determining basic biology of oomycete, fungal, and nematode diseases affecting these crops, including the development of systems approaches for control of soilborne diseases.
Responsibilities: Leads research in the development of systems approaches for control of soilborne diseases affecting carrot, strawberries, and leafy vegetables. Conducts research and is an integral part of a team of ARS scientists, and university, extension, and private researchers in the United States. Transfers technology through scholarly publications, patents, and presentations to scientific and industry groups. Analyzes ecosystems to identify microbiome components associated with improved preplant disease and pest control. Evaluates methods for control of nematodes and soilborne diseases. United States citizenship is required. The position is full time, permanent. A comprehensive benefits package is available.
